How can you provide this service at such a low
cost compared to the extremely high cost of other online voting
services?
We do this by maintaining a very low overhead. Of course
we do have help staff to aid in any problems you may encounter.
Basic Questions on Voting
What is the difference between a vote, a poll and a survey?
A vote is a decision by a limited group on a question or issue.
A poll is a sampling of peoples preferences often open to any
individual. A survey is a determination of the situation or
habits of individuals. WVB can be used for any of these cases.
What are approval voting, rank voting and cumulative
voting?
Approval voting allows each voter to vote for all
answer selections that they feel are acceptable. This tends to remove
undesirable or unpopular selections from contention. See
Balloting Systems for more detail on our three
other balloting systems.
Does WVB meet the requirements of the Federal Election Commission Voting Systems Standards draft?
A review of the standard has found that WVB meets most of the
requirements even though our system is not primarily intended for
governmental elections.
Are there other private voting services like WVB online?
No, not to our knowledge.

As a vote sponsor, how long should I allow for voter registration?
This depends on the size and responsiveness of your group. See Example Votes
for ideas on how to conduct a vote.
What is the maximum size group that can be accommodated
on WVB?
WVB is recommended for groups up to 5000.
However, larger groups can be accommodated by using precincts.
Divide your group into division (or precincts) each having 5000 voters
or fewer and issue identical votes for each.
Are alternate languages supported at WVB?
Yes, questions and answers can be in the language of your choice.
No other pages or information are available in languages other than
English.
What if I have a question about voting procedure?
Go to Help, contact your vote sponsor
What if I want to change the vote question or other
vote information after it has been entered?
The vote must be re-entered in a new vote. This assures that
early and late registrants and voters all see the same information.

Access Questions
Why do I get the "Sign In Error" page?
The Sign In Error page results if you don't sign
in using the same password as used at registration.
The password case must also be the same as used at
registration. You may also be directed to this page if you
have been signed in at World Voting Booth with no activity for an
extended period. If that happens please sign in again.
If you haven't visited World Voting Booth for over
a year or if your paid membership has been expired for over a year,
your registration may have been deleted. In this case, please
register again at Register at WVB.
Why can't I enter a posting?
Postings can only be entered by registered voters
until the voting period ends. Or, your validation may have been
removed by the vote sponsor. Contact your vote sponsor for
resolution. Postings can be reviewed at any time.
Why can't I see the vote tally?
Vote tallies are available to registered voters and the vote sponsor after the close of
polls. This eliminates the influence of early voting on late
voters. Or, your validation may have been removed by the
vote sponsor. Contact your vote sponsor for resolution.
As a vote sponsor, why must I still register to vote?
This is because all vote sponsors will not be voting
in the votes
they setup.
How can I be sure that no one votes twice?
The best way of assuring that no one
votes twice is for the vote sponsor to review the list of voters on
the Voter List page. By recognition of the voters names or email
addresses the sponsor can check that each voter has registered just
once. If someone has registered twice either purposely or in error,
the sponsor can remove (unvalidate) the second registration. There
must be some time between the registration period and the voting
period to use this validation feature. See
Setting Web Vote Security.
How can I be sure that the vote is secure from computer
hackers?
Although no web site can be assured to be free from such criminals,
steps have been taken to minimize this possibility. Details of these steps
remain confidential to maximize their effectiveness. All data is
backed up daily.
